Meet J.J. my beloved black lab. His name is short for Jesse Jack. My family like both names and we eventually started calling him J.J. We had lost our Border-Collie named Daisy, we then found J.J. and instantly fell in love. He unfortunately has hip dysplasia but seems to get around fine. He loves to play fetch and sheds a LOT during the winter and summer. He likes to be active but if you try to take him on a walk or for a swim, try again. He will only get two houses down before he sits and won't move. I don't know why, but I understand why he doesn't like to swim. My sister really wanted to swim with him but he wouldn't come in. She splashed him and then brought him in with a leash. He has been traumatized ever since.
I sometimes wonder what his life was like before we got him. The lady we got him from said he showed up at her doorstep a few months before but couldn't take care of him. Was he a stray his whole life? Did his owner throw him out? Did he run away? I will never know but what happened before he met us, brought him to me. No matter what happened I will always love him.
Labradors are great family pets but can be really sensitive. They love to be active and with their owner. If they could go everywhere with you they would. They love to be loved and that love will be returned.
